I can be pretty weird when I want to get away from it all. Sometimes, I go to church. Sometimes I go to a nearby park alone, take snapshots, take a nice walk. Sometimes I'd rather just stay at home with my nose buried in a book. And of course, I write, write, and write about anything that's inside my mind. :-)

I love this question. I ALWAYS go down to the beach that's just a five minute walk from my house. From there you can see ALL the major flights coming in and going out across the bay. I just fantasize about where they're all going and how anxious and excited the passengers on it must be (because I ALWAYS am on planes). It also has an amazing skyline of Sydney and is very secluded. I couldn't think of a better place to live!

It's the most gorgeous setting to chill, relax and get away from it all.

I usually go home to my mama, dig around in the garden, take some photo shoots of the beautiful flowers and surroundings and I feel much much better. If I had a beach like you Jamie, I would probably have loved that too to get away :)

Great idea! I 'hide' in writing or working frivolously on a project. The more occupied my mind is, the better I can 'hide'. And a good long run doesn't hurt either :)

When I need to get away from it all I usually go to church, go to the gym, or work on my newest craft. If the ocean was closer I would love to walk on the sand. There is just something about sand in between my toes and the sound of the ocean that is just so calming.

Since I have a little one, I can't leave the house, so to get away I go to the guest bedroom and read; but it always turns into a reading or story time with little AA. Now that she is reading, she selects a book to read to me. It is relaxing!

Now that I'm a Mom, I use the shower to "hide out". It's my uninterrupted me time and I love it. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I wish I could walk to the beach like Jamie there. I love the sea, and when I visit (the nearest beach is about a 45 minute drive) I just want to stay there.
Failing that, I like to go into my garden and sit. I need to hide outside, I can't be confined indoors. Outside, I can think and clear my head.

We have a hammock set up in the woods behind our house. It's in a beautiful clearing, so quiet, the perfect getaway spot. We all need time every now and then to hide away for a bit!!

Now that I've moved, gotten married, and can't run to my childhood room to get away from it all I usually will take solace in my car. Roll up the windows turn off the radio and enjoy my time alone as I drive alone. Wish I had a beach to go to!

I love hiding away in a good book. It's wonderful to just lose myself in a different story. And I love re-reading old favorites!

I cook something complicated. For some reason, the kids leave me be when I'm in the kitchen, I don't feel a bit bad about it either since I'm making them food!

I also take to my studio and pound on some metal, make a new design, light up my torch, get creative.
my art room! Sending big hugs and sincere wishes for a weekend filled with joy, Katherine

i lay on the wicker couch on the lanai and listen to the birds/alligators chomping (it's rather thrilling in the dark); i also take a hot bath/shower, seems so lame but as a busy mom sometimes hiding in the shower is the only place you can escape to and sometimes you get interupted, so what mom really gets alone time--probably very few:) enjoy the lovely weekend friends and oh....my new job is my "getaway" lol

My bathroom. No-one bothers me in there. Unless there's a loud crash or something. ;)
I hide out in my bedroom. It is the most relaxing room in the house and there's nothing like running to my room, shutting (and locking) the door and lying on the bed for 5 minutes with my eyes shut while doing some meditation.

Lets see, when I need to get away I like to go to this one really cute coffee shop near my house, its really quiet and you can be pretty much left on your own for hours.

When space is needed, I go for a walk near the sea, far away from the noise of the city or I indulge in a full bubble bath with a good book and candles around.
A great week-end to all!

Hard question. It depends. It depends on what kind of mood I am in, what time of day, if Hubby is home. Sometimes I paint, sometimes I write, and sometimes I will go outside when it's dark on a clear night, and watch the sky.

1) I lock myself in the bathroom for a long hot shower (long being 20mins)

OR

2) I got outside and run a lap around the neighborhood...

I'm a hot shower hider too!! It's the perfect place to not have to think about anything!!! Or to do your best thinking if you prefer. :)

My bedroom. I sit in bed with a ball of yarn and a crochet hook and listen to music and just unplug. Take a deep breath and relax! :) I call it my fortress of solitude..

Happy weekend everyone!

My bathtub. no water.. but I close the door, light a candle, & read a book or listen to music or somrtimes.. if I'm not feeling good, I take a nap. :)
I have been known to fake a stomach ache....and then excuse myself and tell my husband I need to use the washroom. (Earlier in the day I will have hidden a freshly purchased tabloid and chocolate bar under my side of the sink). I will go into the bathroom and sit on the floor eating chocolate and reading my tabloid. I can always hear my husband tell my kids to "let mommy have privacy while she uses the bathroom"....

A little peace and quiet is worth the white lie!

I sneak away to the studio and get in the comfy chair with a book. Since its quiet, I somehow always get to the point of closing my eyes - just for a minute - and then you know what happens. An hour (or so) later, I might decide to rejoin society!

I usually sit in the bathtub. Fully clothed and dry. I have NO idea why I do this.
Me? I like to hide in a bubble bath, glass of wine, a cosmo mag, and classical music with some candles :)

Nothing makes me feel more like a woman and better than that.
