Hello and thanks for featuring me! You guys at FTLOB rock!
Welcome to Travel Spot!! A blog that started because of travel and now is much, much more! If you like travel, books, fitness, food or fun, you should come over and say hi!
So, who am I?
Me
I love to travel. I LIVE to travel. I work to TRAVEL. My "normal" job entails traveling around the US, doing disaster recovery (think Hurricane Katrina) work. I love it. I meet so many interesting people and get to see places, such as New Orleans, in a way that not many other people get to see them. However, as soon as my coffers are full, I hit the road.
New Orleans, LA
I have been all around the world. I love to meet new people, to see how other cultures live and get by, to see what they eat and where they live. To eat what they eat and live how they live! I love to experience life, be it in the US or abroad. My dream is to be a travel writer or a photographer for Lonely Planet (or any travel magazine...any takers? I will work for food!)
Himalayas, Nepal
I am a control freak, and yes, I will admit it. I love shoes, even though I don't wear much more than sneakers and flip flops most of the time. When I am not traveling, I work, I eat, I cook, I hike, I read lots of books, I attempt to make crafts, I sometimes run and gripe about it, I take photos and I blog.
Central Park in the Fall
I started blogging about five years ago. I was traveling by myself and not only did my family and friends want to know where I was, but I had a couple of things in mind personally. One, I was sometimes lonely and bored. Two, I wanted a record for myself of where I was and what I was doing. I try (in vain) to keep a real journal, but many times I just don't get around to writing in it. This was a way for me to get my story on "paper" so I could remember it later. Especially since the older I get, the less I remember!
I didn't care who read it. Really it was a way to save me from having to write each of my friends a separate email telling them how I was and where I was. Nobody read it. My mom read it. Sometimes. If she was really bored.
This is Where I Live When I am Not Traveling
But then I found out (recently) about the blogging community. And how supportive they could be. I started a 365 photo blog and it was SO NICE to get feedback from other bloggers, to relate to people and to have them relate to me. I realized I am not the only one who wonders how to get the perfect shot. I am not the only one who wants to know -- where should I stay when I go to Sydney? I am not the only one who likes to read! I am one of many and the other people around me are a blessing! I did not finish my 365 project, but I gained experience, friends and support. So much support.
Please stop by and say hi. I am always looking for new blogs to check out and new friends to meet, wherever in the world you are from!
