Moments of a Libra

Good Morning Fabness! Soon we'll be throwing out our Weekend Wander Halloween Mingling, so stay tuned; meanwhile, enjoy a new feature!

Hello there, fellow FTLOBers! Halina from Moments of a Libra here. I'm 25, a full time business student, but I've also found my passions in drawing, painting, photography and traveling (yup, there are a few of us too).  I believe that we all are creative beings that need to balance our analytic way of thinking with our intuitive, the last mentioned being truly neglected in modern education.
After being overly ambitious with one single part of my life, my studies, I realized that the pressure and stress I put myself through just made me unhappy. It became an impediment for what I wanted to to for a long time: explore photography and art. Determined to become better at these two things, I made a plan to dedicate more of my spare time in order to to what i love. My blog started of as a way for me to articulate what I had learned from the creative process. But it turned out to be THE most important factor of motivation - to show people out there what I could make AND to show them that they also can do it! I use to say that I started of as a creative human being when I started to blog.
This blog is mainly about my reflections on how to become better at what you love to do, and noticing beauty all around. Hopefully I can show people that with a lot of time, and the right motivation, you can achieve great things without having to sacrifice other important things in your life.
Come and visit my on my blog, share your thoughts, and grab a badge if you like!

Twitter Party Thursday with Cocktail Popsicles

I'm not over anything frozen yet, are you?! these are sinfully delish and perfect for our Thirsty Thursday Lovers. Let's get this Twitter Party Started with our Highlighted Tweep this week:

Meet Nadine, a fabulous blogger and twitter fan! She's our #1 spot today. Visit, follow and connect with her. Let's do more than mingle today, let's connect, make friends and enjoy the day! Cheers.

Blackberry Prosecco Popsicle

Makes 12 2.5oz popsicles

20 oz Prosecco
1/3 cup of blackberries
4 oz crème de cassis
Splash of fresh lime juice
2 pinches of lime zest

Instructions:

1. Place blackberries in a bowl and pour crème de cassis on top and toss to coat. Using a muddler or a rounded blunt end of a kitchen tool, crush berries into the crème de cassis. Add lime juice and zest, toss to combine.

2. Measure out approximately 1 teaspoon of berry mixture into bottom of your chosen popsicle form and pour Prosecco on top.

3. Freeze for about 2 hours or until mixture starts to solidify enough to hold a popsicle stick upright. Insert popsicle sticks and finish freezing popsicles overnight.

A few notes:

1. Do not remove from freezer until ready to serve, or plate over crushed ice as the carbonation in the Prosecco creates tiny air pockets that will make the popsicles melt faster.

2. Cordial glasses were used for the popsicles in the picture, but any form will work.

How Often Should You (Do You) Post

There seems to be lots of different opinions about how often you should post! And in our opinion, you should post as often as you'd like! No really. Some people are attracted to more than one post in a day. On the other hand, it's a little too much for some readers. So when you are posting what you love to post, post as often as you'd like. You'll know when it's too much or too little the more you blog.

I personally would recommend to post daily. Your readers want fresh posts everyday and I think it's important in growth.

Now if you are an irregular blogger and post few in one week, like maybe every other day or 3 times a week, readers may get the impression that you are not a frequent blogger and won't bother checking in with you as much. It's difficult to say because in all reality you want your readers to be happy yet you are blogging for you.

I've seen blogs who post 3 or more posts in one day and to me, that's overwhelming. But for some, it's okay because they love that blog and what they are posting about. I like to see a new post each day. Yes bloggy breaks are necessary and should be implemented but for the most part, update your blog. A weekend break is nice and my tip for this is:

When you post your Friday Post, include a lot of things for your readers to enjoy. Such as, several links to fun things you like, a new blog you've discovered, fun photos and/or take them to an older post that you don't think they've read.

Whether you decide to post daily (recommended), a few times a week or more than one post in a day, Learn what is Best for you and what you like. Get it down packed and have your scheduled posts ready to go. If you feel like it's too much, cut back and if you feel like it isn't enough, post more! Good luck with whatever your choice is and stick to your routine.

Please share how often you post and what works best for you! We'd love to hear.

Between the Lines

Hello Rad Bloggers! You still have time to enter the Picture Perfect Halloween Contest along with many other linky's going on. Stay tuned for tips and more coming soon today. Meanwhile, enjoy this feature.

I must say, the best thing about being a feature is not having to come up with a clever title. That takes off some of the pressure.
But not all of it.
I’m Whitney and my blog is entitled “Between the Lines” and I focus on my experiences as a young, newlywed, teacher. “Between the Lines” refers to this in-between stage of life where you’re growing with another person while also creating yourself as a responsible, professional, and independent adult (some might call this co-dependency – I call it marriage). My blog is a way to document and make goals for my style, fitness regimens, relationships, and finances (with all the fun stories along the way) (I also abuse parentheses and html commands i, b, and u).
So many changes happen in your early-to-mid twenties and I am definitely enjoying my journey!
Ten Things I do in my blog:
1.       I make lists.
2.       I start off with a big bold phrase ending with a colon letting you know what I’m doing next.
3.       I post my daily outfits (and talk about how I make my outfits teacher-appropriate)
Some of my favorite outfits I’ve worn:
4.     I talk about how cheap my outfits are.
I give a price for each item. This has been rather interesting for me to see which items were worth the investment—and which sale items I got at a really super awesome deal.
5.       I do “Ten Things Tuesday.” (I’m a huge fan of alliteration, as well)
6.       Awkward & Awesome Thursday (I’m full of awkward. The awesome just happens to me somewhere along the way). I really think you can tell a lot about a person by the awkward stories they admit to.
Some of my favorite awkward moments:
Seeing someone from far away and realizing you need to talk to them. By the time you near them, someone else has snatched them up. So...options are to act like you suddenly remembered something you had to do in an opposite direction or wait in line. I chose to hover. Awk. Ward.
Discovering that my gym has cameras inside the work out area. Why is this awkward? Well, I was alone in the gym. And I decided that I would skip a lap around the workout area. Just because I could. It was worth it.
I went to Sephora with my mom and sister this week and "Valerie" came on the speakers. It's one of my favorite cardio songs I listen to while I work out, so I'm dancing in the aisle and singing along. I turn the corner, and there's a Sephora associate staring at me. I smiled and kept singing (then slowly turned the corner and booked it to the other side of the store).
(Told ‘ya I am full of awkward.)
If you want more go here.
7.       I talk about my goals—and whether I’ve done well with them or completely failed. And I always try to be honest.
8.       I talk about husband. It even makes me sick sometimes. I’ll stop before I start to gush all over this blog, too.
9.       My experiences as a young teacher. (I love my job and I gush about it, too)
10    Hobbies.  I have all kinds of interests and crazy activities that keep me un-bored. And I hope they keep you unbored, too.
I hope you enjoyed my little guest appearance. I love making new friends—so stop by and say “Hello”!
XO,
W

Ruthanne with an E

oh hello hello! I'm Ruthanne, and I blog over at Ruthanne with an E. So very nice to meet you all!

I am a sixteen year old junior in high school, the oldest of five kids, [trust me, some funny stuff happens with these folks..] and I live in the most beautiful place ever! I have only been blogging for a few months now, but I love it! It is such a wonderful hobby to add to my [very] long list. I'm very spunky, independent and outgoing; I love a good challenge and blogging seemed to fit the bill!

You may be wondering what the "with an E" thing is about...yes? Well, you see. My grandmother on my daddy's side died suddenly just a month before I was born. Her full name was Ruth Ann. My parents loved the idea of putting those two names together, in her honor. But of course it just wasn't complete without the E! In the past 16 years I have discovered so many traits that I inherited from her. I love to fish, she did too. I love to help people; she was a nurse. I would like to think that she would be proud of the woman I am becoming, were she still alive.

(L: my lovely grandma Ruth's nursing graduation portrait ♥ R: my school picture this year)

My blog is a little bit of everything. I love my family, I love to sew, I love songwriting & within that, singing & working out the music for my songs. I play piano and am a firm believer in being the most perfect perfectionist. I love taking pictures [all the ones below are mine], and I love all things vintage. I am obsessed with my cowboy boots and vintage dresses, as well!

Really, please do! I would love to make some new friends! ♥

much love,
Ruthanne

I Dream Loudly

Hey, blog lovers. I'm Kate Rowan, and I blog at I Dream Loudly.
I'm a 25yr old chicky who just went and had a baby come out of her. I know, how typical. I don't have your average blog that is inundated with babyness, though. My son, Leif, just happens to pop up in the conversation simply because I am a stay at home mom. I stay at home because my husband is pretty awesome, and because I simply don't get along with anyone long enough to want to work for/with them. I am investigating the life of a free spirited blogger......or just a really poor person who writes too much.
This was me a about 2 months ago. I was super pregnant, and took to lounging in the river near my house because looking like a hippo was something I could do without much of a problem. Luckily I also have a sister who knows how to use a camera, and she made me look less like a hippo, and more like a model. How nice for me, right? At this point I was crazy to have my baby because my ankles were swollen, I was walking like a horse with joint problems, and I was eating everything around me. It was getting ridiculous.
Then I went and had a baby! Woot! Of course, it was bloody miserable, a good solid 24 hours of body wracking pain. But I got a cute baby out of the whole deal, and my parents got my husband crying on camera, so it was totally worth it. That was a month ago. I have since lost 25 lbs in 2 weeks.....woah, right? I should look killer, but I'm pretty sure the last 5 lbs I gained went right to my boobs, which in some cases can be good, but not for me. Nope. Not at all. The rest of me is sorta all in the wrong places. My liver is still migrating out of my lung cavity, where it went to hide from baby kicking it. What fun! There is so much about making a human being that people don't tell you!
So, now I have this tiny human being who decided to have jaundice and turn the color of a carrot. Awkward for me, that's for sure. People kept asking if I was married to one of those creepy short guys from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. NO, thank you. My baby is going with a snazzy color scheme right now, ok?!?! Jeeze!

Baby Leif has since mellowed out a bit, but its been fun learning that he can and will pee up the back of his pj's just because. He also does a great job of making a squeak that wakes me up out of the deepest sleep ever, just to find him smiling. The joys of motherhood! Since I am home with him all the time, I get to blog, nap and change diapers. Oh, and take pictures of him looking like General Akbar from Star Wars:
I am a really lucky mom because he is a ridiculously easy baby, and he generates plenty to blog about. I swear, some of it might be book material! Really! He is super serious, and will probably be a diplomat. Or a senator. Something like that. I mean, look at that face! So disapproving! His tiny invisible eyebrows are so intense! He just wants to get up and give a speech!

Anyways, all of this is a really good reason to come to my blog, and follow. Or tell the world about me, because I need a real reason I refuse to do anything but work from home. I love to write about other things too, like how to piss off religious people, my chore lists, being a Pisces, how to keep your crumbling pelvis together, and more! I swear, It really is good sometimes.

Come see me. I love me some visitors, and will share with you the virtual gooey brownie that is my life. Muah.

Kate
I Dream Loudly

And finally, my button. Take it, I don't need it!

How to Link Pages to Posts

Hey Dolls! So many emails and questions came in on how to link a page directly to the posts. If you are a fashion blogger who needs all of your fashion outfits to link from a page or if you need your photography posts linked to a page then this tutorial is just for you!

Take a look at our sidebar under Things We Do:
These are called Labels, Tags, Categories or whatever you wish to call them. We label all of our Posts so that it's easier for you to find them and participate. When you label your posts, they will all come up under that category. So when you click on that label, you'll see this:
It brings up all those posts related to that topic. Much easier for linking your own pages as well. To label all of your posts;

Go to: Posting, Edit Posts, Labels is Located on the Bottom Left Hand Side:
Type in your label and be SURE to Publish Post.

You now have your labels. Remember to do this to each new post as well. Your labels will show up on the left side of your edit posts, for easy editing.

To make it easier for you to grab the Label URL for linking pages and such, be sure to add them to your sidebar:

Go to Design, Add a Gadget, Scroll Down and Add Labels to your sidebar, Save.

Now when creating a page link, you can scroll to your labels, click the label you wish to share on a page and grab the URL from your browser: it should look something like this:
http://forblogs.blogspot.com/search/label/Blog%20of%20the%20Month

Create your button that you'll be linking for your page and link to your labels. Or you can add your page links under your header as a navigation bar by going to:

Design, Add a Gadget (under the header), Link List, Add Your Links here and they will look great, linking to your outfit/photography/etc... posts!

Good Luck, let us know if it works for you.

Appreciating the Fireflies

Hey everyone! I'm Amanda and I blog over at Appreciating the Fireflies!
Appreiciate the Fireflies
It seems to be the general consensus around the blog world, that everyone is excited for fall. And how could you not be? The weather, the football, the pumpkin spice lattes. For me, whenever I start to notice the weather changing, I immediately start listening to my "fall music". A little softer and slower, some music just screams fall to me.

So grab a cup of something warm, throw on a nice thick scarf, and check out some of my fall music mix!

Finding Your Voice

I have to be completely honest. When we started this e-course, I was thoughtless, mindless and clueless as far as what I wanted to share with our students about finding your voice. I struggle myself with this. I tend to blame the Gemini in me, the multi-personality. Some days I want to let it all out, other days I want to be sweet and "pretty." I tend to cuss {a lot}, I then rant and rave to the point where I feel out of control, out of my element. I got feedback that made me feel like I shouldn't have written something and offended people. It made me think twice about what my next rant was going to be. I was far from ashamed or anything like that. I just thought that I wasn't the person that wanted to make others feel bad when that was never my intentions. Do you ever feel like people just don't understand but when you write a post, you fully understand what you're delivering? I get me. Others get me. But some do not. And I realized that I want to be respected by not a few or many, but everyone who reads my blog.

Needless to say, Ashley ended up writing our "Finding Your Voice" session for our e-course. She did a beautiful job and I couldn't have done it any better. I wanted to share this session with each of you because I think it's so very important in discovering yourself, what you want out of your blog and how you want to be "seen". It helps you to discover things you may have not known you even liked and perhaps you find a new you in the process.

Here's a clip of Ashley's words and then I'll share my final thoughts at the end:

If there is anything that I've learned about finding your voice, it's okay to be who we are! It's okay to be human and make mistakes. That's the beauty of blogging. There is always a delete button if after the fact we feel like we shouldn't have posted something. I delete old posts all the time. It's okay to change, to make a difference and to discover new beauty and a love for new things. As time goes by and you do grow, you will change. You will look back and see a huge difference in your blog. If anything, I have not changed talking about things that bother me; instead I re-word the way I would have worded in the past to make everything more delightful on my part. Our lives are not peaches and cream. If you read a blog that is always happy go lucky and never has a moment then you have to ask yourself if they are being real or not. I have a hard time reading blogs that never have a "moment" because I know that life is not perfect, so don't pretend it is. But i do love blogs that are pretty and they inspire me to post about things I truly love and afterall, an unperfect life is oh, so prettyful! xoxo

What can you expect from my blog, The Fire in my Eyes? Well, for one thing, you can expect strange but wonderful explosions of inspiration that tend to happen in my head. You can also expect rambling, poetry, whimsicality, opinion, photography and art, but most of all... *drum roll please* ... you can expect all of that to change in a second. You see, the point of the blog is to inspire and be inspired but the bigger point of it is to be spontaneous.

Prompt Me...week 8

This weeks topic: Pets/Animals
Today's Prompt:  My pets/animals are like....

Being that not everyone has children, we thought you'd like to tell us about your pets/animals that are in your life, or have been.

We hope these inspire you to get a post out when you're not knowing what to blog about.
Each week will be different, and if you have any suggestions, leave us a comment, we'll be happy to feature them.
Also when you are done, please link up to exact post, we'd love to read! This link up will run for 1 week, please don't add any other posts that don't follow these prompts.
