Featured Blog- The Story of Us

Hey Everyone!  I'm Ashlee from The story of us.

Who Am I?
Why Do I Blog?
Plain and simple I blog because I lost the majority of my friends due to getting married and having a kid.  They aren't ready to have this kind of life style so we have just drifted apart.  So, I use this as my outlet to vent, ask for advice and mostly brag about my child.

What Will You Find On My Blog?

I spend most of my posts talking about Maddux and my experiences as a new momma.  I also try to really let my readers get to know me so, you'll also see some random posts about me, my marriage & my life in general.

Meet My Family.

Featured Blog: Anthropomorphity

Hi, my name’s Amanda from anthropomorphity. All the links in here, they'll take you to an actual blog post- exciting, I know. I’m a 17 year old girl obsessed with fashion, writing and music. I find my inspiration in nature and the little joys in life as well as in sadness and the darker side- which is usually the most beautiful. I can often have a weird, sarcastic sense of humor and my bark is always worse than my bite. Are you scared yet? Everyone says I’m so very intimidating as I tower over them at a grand five feet tall.
Photobucket
You kept reading? Awh, you’re so sweet. My “intimidating-ness” (do like that word I just made up?) is actually a bad case of the shy-girl-who-doesn’t-get-in-everyones-face-and-annoy-the-heck-out-of-them-and-she’s-smart-so-she-must-be-stuck-up. Right now I bet there are a large handful of you who are sadly relating to this condition. Don’t be fooled! I can be very outgoing and very loud. I love to spend time with my friends and my dog, Misty who I adore.
Photobucket
Alright, enough rambling (which I also do a lot of). Here are some random things I bet you are just dying to know:

--I love music. I love to sing and if you ever catch me trying to play piano, guitar or ukulele- you would agree that I have a long way to go on those ones. Occasionally I will post a video of me actually playing/singing something but those are very rare and you’ve got to keep an eye out for ‘em!

--I shop, and I shop a lot. I love clothes, accessories, shoes, thrifting, just everything about clothes. I enjoy spending hours going through magazines and tearing pages out with outfits I want to re-create. My mom thinks it’s a great use of my time too.
Photobucket
--I love animals and am an almost two year vegetarian. I’ve had my dog in my life since I was four and she is my best friend. I am a dog person, but I like cats too. No discrimination here.

--I like to create. I have a sewing machine I need to use more, I have a newfound love of crocheting and some very exciting jewelry ideas. I am also in the works of opening up an etsy account. I’ve got to make some money somehow...
Photobucket
All in all, I’m just a friendly, compassionate, creative, sometimes hyper, “intimidating” girl sharing my mistakes and life with the world. So, I would love if you all would join me on my adventures and misadventures of getting the hang of my crazy life. It may seem kind of dull to the average eye, but to me, nothing is dull…. but then again that could just be my easily entertained mind speaking.

Love, Amanda

Featured Blog: Do sweat the small stuff

Sweaty is NOT My Real Name

I started blogging sometime during March 2011, thanks to my best friend, Ms. Lips, who thought I had too much time on my hands and suggested I spent it by writing all my neurotic rants and ramblings on a blog.  I’ve always loved reading and writing, so I thought, “Why not?”

A few days and many, many frustrating hours later, I managed to set up a blog with some little bit of sanity intact.  Never been much into computers except to do online shopping and check on my emails before, I arrived in Blogosphere pretty much dazed and confused.  What the heck is a widget?  Is html a short for something? Grab what? “Grab Button?” Pages, posts, sidebar, header, and footer… are they some kind of rhythmic lyrics, like “head, shoulder, feet and toes, feet and toes!” kinda thing?

And here I thought I was just going to sit down, write some stuff, click send, the end.

I had some fun when it came to naming my blog.  After receiving those Don't Sweat the Small Stuff books as presents for like the zillionth time, it was only natural if I wanted those people who gave them to me to, err, f*ck off.  Obviously I'm still as anal as ever, even after owning the most updated set of Don't Sweat books outside of Amazon.com.  So as a gesture of my gratitude (Not!) to those people, I decided to call my blog, DO Sweat the Small Stuff (i.e. f*ck off).

Note to all: Giving Self-Help Books as Birthday or Christmas presents is a vile idea. No matter how good your intentions are.

Yes, to me, small stuff matters. Which is probably why I’m neurotic and anal-retentive, but hey…  Remember one of the first things the adults taught us about the birds and the bees, when they finally revealed the scientific version to us innocent kids?  It only takes one little swimmer...
So there you go, littlest things count!
Sweaty, according to my 6.5 year old

How I came to be Sweaty from Do Sweat the Small Stuff was unplanned.  I knew from the start that I wanted to remain anonymous because that’s the only way I could be honest.  I’m way too chickenshit to reveal both my identity and what goes on in my head at the same time.  Besides, I have this paranoia that somehow random people would find out where I live and start throwing rotten eggs at my house, or more specifically, at my forehead.  Calling myself "the Princess," or some exotic fake name like "Veruschka" didn’t seem to match the whole Do Sweat the Small Stuff theme.   So given the limited choice I have, I settled with Sweaty.   Either that, or the other choice would be calling myself “the Small Stuff.” Err, no.

Another thing worth mentioning is that my blog has a lot to do with me being narcissistic and thinking what goes on in my head is worth mentioning. Add to that my propensities towards the hysterics and my obsessive compulsive tendencies.  My best friend Ms. Lips is right, I needed to vent some of them out before I drove people around me straight to mental rehabs.

I have high hopes that my blog may be therapeutic for some people.  Who knows, by comparing their thoughts to the thoughts found in my blog, those who had lived their lives thinking they're insane, might actually regain confidence in their sanity.   In other words, unless you start thinking that my thoughts *are* your thoughts, you're pretty much safe.  Hey, it’s like, free mental health assessment!

If you are up for the roller coaster ride, visit me at
Do Sweat the Small Stuff.  It’s at http://dosweatthesmallstuff.blogspot.com.   Hope to see many of you there, because believe me, I know.  I check the numbers, like, every. single. day hour.

Even better, if you also grab my button and post it on your blog. I would love that very much.

For tweeters, you can tweet me at @dosweatthesmall.

For Facebook fans, I have an FB Fan Page that's constantly in need of more Likes. It's at http://facebook.com/dosweat, or if you want the shortcut, here it is:

Yep, I came prepared. LOL.

Featured Blog - Random Adventures

I guess I should start by introducing myself. My name is Lauren and I blog over here!  I'm a 24 year and blog over at old middle school teacher turned toilet salesman. Yep, that's right, I sell potty parts and other various bathroom essentials for a living right here in the Lone Star State. By day, I wear an awesome pink cape inter tube and save the world from its restroom woes.
By night, I am partner in crime to my hubster , the proud mother of three fur babies, daughter to the rents, sister to the sibs, wifey to my wife, biff to the bestie, cousin to the Yankee, next-door neighbor extraordinaire, and Aunt YaYa to the brightest little lights of my life. You can read all about them here.

I started this blog as a way to document the hot mess that is my life. I have a knack for exaggeration and story telling, so I thought joining the blog-o-sphere would be the perfect way to showcase those abilities. I also majored in English and actually really enjoy writing (which, unfortunately isn't something you get the opportunity to do while selling commodes). My entries usually involve ranting about the chaos surprises my dogs like to leave for me when I get home from work, bragging on my too-cute-for-their-own-good niece and nephew, chronicling a typical day at my office, or retelling the sometimes reckless, sometimes crazy, always exaggerated encounters of my daily life. Every now and then, I put on my sappy cap and write something overly mushy/heartfelt. I try and post a disclaimer when this happens, so you don't walk unknowingly into a tear jerking situation.

The hubs and I are admittedly the worst grown ups ever, so if you stop by my blog you'll likely be bombarded with stories that support the aforementioned statement. We try not to take life too seriously, and for two people who have been together for almost a decade, we still know how to have fun with each other and laugh at ourselves. I titled my blog: Random Adventures and Mindless Chatter because I felt like those two categories were broad enough to encompass anything I could possible think of posting. On Thursdays, I take time to write little bloggy mini-letters called "Thoughts and Thanks" as a weekly reminder to myself to acknowledge the little things in life that give my life its sparkle.

This is my second go-around in the blogging world, and if you choose to stop by, I really hope you enjoy what you find. Grab a drink and stay a while, because insanity is always better when shared with friends.

Thanks and Gig'em

Always,

L

Featured Blog- Reverie

My name is Sarah Ann NoelI didn't always use my middle name. But then I married into a family where I became the fourth Sarah Noel. So in the interest of originality, Sarah Ann Noel it shall be. As my husband likes to say, I'm a lot of things for a girl. I write, mostly. I style. I plan. I organize. I design. I work. I love life. I also like things neat and orderly unless they're supposed to be messy. That's a lot of angles. So my blog, Reverie, is where I kind of bring everything together.

Despite all those many interests, I'm a writer first and foremost. I used to think that, as a writer, my blog should reflect my writing career. I do a lot of book reviews and link to features I do for magazines. And I offer up some thoughts on writing. But in the past year, I realized that the best way to blog as a writer is simply to write, to showcase skill without having to talk about it. I'd say that realization transitioned my blog to a "lifestyle" blog. I simply like to tell stories!
The gent, Trevor, and I are married, and have been for nearly three years. We live in Denver, which we LOVE, and many of my stories are about our town and our lovely life in it.
We have a pup, Roscoe, and he makes many an appearance. Plus, we have a daughter, just born this year! She's taking up a lot of my blog these days, awesome stories like her first smile or her first time eating cereal. My perspective on motherhood grows every day, and every Friday I write a feature called "Mom Notes," memories I have about my childhood and how they tie into mothering.
But like I said before, I've got a lot of angles. And so a visit to my blog might also be a little rant, a piece of fashion, another blogger I found, something that is inspiring me, or tidbits of travel. We're all people with lots of interest and personality, and I hate limiting myself to one category. We're so much more than that!

I hope you can pop by and visit our dreamy Denver life. I love sharing it and meeting new friends too!
